Mainly used for blending with Cabernet Sauvignon for top quality wines in Médoc.

Intense raspberry flavour.

Vinification
As for Cabernet Sauvignon: Fermented in stainless steel or oak. Fermentation temperature not critical because of robustness of grape. Matured in old or new oak.

Style
Rather than possessing individual style, it adds complexity and fullness to other Bordeaux reds.

Body, Dry/Sweet
When blended, produces intense, full bodied wines.

Notes
Its main rôle is to enhance the richness of Bordeaux wines.
