Muscadet
AKA
Geography
Home is the Loire Valley in France.
Viticulture
Thrives in the cooler climate of the Loire
Valley.
Varietal/Blend
Mainly used as a varietal grape.
Flavour
& Character
Has fairly neutral, sometimes almost bland,
flavours. Hints of apple and gooseberry.
Vinification
Attempts to oak age Muscadet are not always
successful. The grape tends to have insufficient
structure and body to assimilate the oak.
Style
Good Muscadet is firm and dry with a steely
acidity and freshness. Muscadet Primeur should
be drunk young.
Body,
Dry/Sweet
Light bodied, crisp and dry.
Notes
Has been described as an ''easy-going, all-purpose
white wine.''
