Creamy Beef Stew
500g braising steak (shin beef or brisket)
1 glass red wine
1 oxo cube
3/4 pint hot water
small carton of double cream
Preheat oven to gas mark 3 (don't know electric equivalent sorry chook).
Slice onion and fry in a small amount of oil until soft. Remove from pan.
Cut beef into cubes and fry until browned.
Place beef and onions in a oven proof casserole.
Peel and slice carrot and add to casserole.
Add the glass of wine and the oxo cube dissolved in the hot water.
Stir well, place on the lid and cook in the oven for 1.5 hours.
After this time remove lid and cook for a further 30mins
Just before serving stir in the carton of cream.
Serve with a jacket potato and vegetables.
